Lids are all those protections of mechanical elements present in the tail lifts that serve as a finish, aesthetics but also protection to prevent water or other external agents from reaching parts to be protected. The most common are those placed at the two outer ends of the frame or main crossbar of the tail lift, or all those used in underrun bars or rear bumpers which usually consist of three elements or a single bar. Another application is on the sliding rails of retractable tail lifts, especially in those tail lifts equipped with aluminum rails. All these covers are normally made of plastic or rubber and have a circular or rectangular cross-section. In many cases they are flaped caps that inserted inside the tubulars a little under pressure, are already held thanks to the presence of these flaps.
